Lunging and In-Hand - Getting Closer
“Lunging”
is the second stage of the horse/human body-language process. It further
refines the lessons of the Ground Work program
to go beyond free work in a round pen, to more connected work on a lunge
line, to
“in-hand” work on a lead line or the
reins of
a bridle.
The lunge-line allows you to contain your horse without a round pen and
apply the new sensual and multi-dimensional awareness, achieved in the
Ground Work program, with all your moves and
positions. You will understand how to create movement and performance
before you ever set foot in the stirrup!
“In-hand” work draws from all the interaction
and techniques you have established from a distance so far. You will
“lead” your horse, side by side, to bring the connection closer.
Special
attention will be placed on your breathing, the rhythm of your foot
steps, your posture and your focus and intent. Tools for everyday
handling will be practiced in order to better understand and assess
unique personality traits and tendencies for both you and your equine
partner.
Upon completing Lunging and In-Hand, you will
have been able to establish a calm environment, set clear boundaries and
gain more respect, trust and focus from your horse. You will have
developed a deeper connection and will be able to enjoy and dance each
other’s space with ease and confidence!
